Through surveying field agents, we have found that cases keep popping up that require a different approach to ensuring the appropriate items are installed on a client-by-client basis. The goal of streamlining all clients to use the same stack isn’t always the best option and we are running into cases where it requires MORE work. To solve this issue, I would like to introduce you to S.A.M.
S.A.M. is a DattoRMM component monitor that can be customized at a granular level. The most obvious advantage is quickly bringing client endpoints into alignment with a single policy. You can easily go a bit more granular and build separate policies for Desktops, Laptops, Servers, etc. As new endpoints come online, they will be picked up by the policy and brought into alignment.
To reduce noise, we have built in a counter to avoid generating alerts for a single failure so your techs don’t have to be disturbed unless a recurring error is preventing an endpoint from coming into alignment with your stack.
Simply create a Monitoring Policy that targets a group of endpoints and select the items you wish to enforce. Then let your systems do the work for you.
S.A.M. will check that the selected tools are installed and running, and install them if missing. Should S.A.M. fail to get the tool installed after <failurecount> attempts, it will open a ticket to get some human interaction. By running as a monitor, we reduce the workload on your techs and by extension, reduce human error. If a workstation slipped through without your AV installed, the monitor will pick it up and correct the issue before it becomes a problem.
